Terms of Use

Last updated: 2026

Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Use govern your access to lifedecisiondesk.com and the general information available on it. By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. A later insurance quote, application, or policy is governed by its own disclosures, authorizations, and contract; these website terms do not replace them.

Educational information, not a personal recommendation

The articles, examples, checklists, policy descriptions, and other site content are provided for general educational purposes. They explain questions consumers may want to ask about term life, indexed universal life, whole life, final-expense coverage, and existing policies. They cannot account for your complete finances, health, family responsibilities, state law, policy language, or the current practices of a particular insurer.

Nothing on the site, including a general illustration or statement about a type of policy, is individualized insurance advice. An individualized recommendation begins only after you have a review with an appropriately licensed Life Decision Desk life insurance agent, provide the facts needed to assess your situation, and the agent identifies a conclusion as specific to you. A review is not legal, tax, accounting, securities, or investment advice. Consult a qualified professional in those fields when your decision depends on those issues.

Licensing and product availability

Life Decision Desk is licensed in 49 states (except New York; NPN 12345678). Our agents discuss or recommend insurance only where they hold the required authority. Licensing does not mean that every carrier, product, rider, or policy form is available in every state, and it does not make content on this site an offer to issue or bind coverage.

Life Decision Desk is a licensed insurance agency and is not employed by or captive to one insurer. We do not represent every insurer or policy available, and when coverage is purchased through us, an insurance company may compensate the agency. Product availability may still depend on carrier appointments, state approvals, underwriting rules, and the facts of your case. Any application is subject to the insurer's review and acceptance, and no coverage exists until the issuing carrier confirms it under the terms of the policy.

No guarantee of outcomes

We work to provide careful, understandable second opinions, but we cannot guarantee approval, insurability, premium class, price, policy performance, tax treatment, claim payment, or any other outcome. Examples and comparisons depend on the assumptions stated and may not reflect future interest-crediting rates, dividends, expenses, charges, premiums, or your actual experience. Nonguaranteed values can be lower than illustrated and, in some circumstances, a policy can lapse if required premiums or other conditions are not met.

Only the issued policy describes the insurer's contractual guarantees, exclusions, and obligations, and those guarantees depend on the insurer's claims-paying ability. Do not buy, replace, reduce, borrow against, surrender, or cancel coverage based solely on website content. Review the actual policy and disclosures, answer application questions accurately, and confirm that any intended replacement coverage is in force before ending existing protection.

Acceptable use

You may use the site for lawful, personal, noncommercial purposes. You may not attempt to disrupt the site, gain unauthorized access to its systems, introduce malicious code, misrepresent your identity, use the site to violate another person's rights, or collect site content or data through automated means in a manner that burdens the service or exceeds ordinary search-engine indexing. You are responsible for the accuracy of information you choose to provide during a review.

Intellectual property

The site's text, graphics, branding, page design, review frameworks, and other original materials are owned by or licensed to Life Decision Desk and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, nonexclusive right to view and print reasonable portions for your own noncommercial evaluation of an insurance decision. You may not republish, sell, modify, remove ownership notices from, or create a competing service from our materials without prior written permission. Rights available under fair-use and other applicable laws are not restricted by this paragraph.

Site availability and limitation of liability

We make reasonable efforts to keep the site useful and current, but insurance rules, carrier practices, and product terms change. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site is provided on an “as available” basis without a warranty that every item is complete, current, uninterrupted, or error-free. References or links to a third party do not constitute our endorsement or control of that party's content or privacy practices.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Life Decision Desk and its personnel are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of or inability to use the site, or from a decision made solely in reliance on its general educational content. This limitation does not exclude liability that applicable law does not allow us to exclude, alter an insurer's obligations under an issued policy, or take away any nonwaivable consumer right. Your direct interaction with a licensed life insurance agent remains subject to the professional and legal duties applicable to that review.

Governing law and disputes

These terms and disputes concerning use of this website are governed by applicable federal law and the laws of the state in which Life Decision Desk maintains its principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Insurance reviews and transactions may also be governed by the insurance laws of your state. Any venue or choice-of-law rule applies only to the extent enforceable and does not displace protections that your state makes nonwaivable.

Changes and questions

We may revise these terms when the site, our services, or applicable law changes. The updated year at the top identifies the current version, and continued site use after publication means the revised terms govern that later use. For a question about these terms, call (800) 123-4567 and ask to speak with a licensed life insurance agent. Asking a question is free and creates no obligation to buy or change a policy.
