Our Decision Reviews
Start with the decision in front of you
Each review begins with your situation, not a product pitch. We examine the details, explain the tradeoffs, and conclude with a written Decision Brief: Keep, Adjust, Add, Replace, or Wait.
Flagship Review
Policy, Quote & Illustration Decision Review
Before you cancel, replace, borrow from, or put more money into a life policy, find out what it is guaranteed to do and what it is only projected to do.
This review applies to whatever is already in front of you: a current policy, an annual statement, an in-force illustration, a quote, a replacement proposal, a lapse or premium notice, or a loan or withdrawal you are considering.
We examine what the coverage is meant to accomplish, what is contractually guaranteed versus merely illustrated, material deadlines, and the tradeoffs of each path. If someone has proposed replacing your policy, we compare that proposal against the value you would give up, and we will never recommend ending existing coverage before the consequences are clear and any approved replacement is safely in force.
What this review covers
- The financial job the coverage is intended to perform
- Guaranteed and non-guaranteed elements, side by side
- Material deadlines, loans, withdrawals, and premium requirements
- Alternatives and tradeoffs: Keep, Adjust, Add, Replace, or Wait
Business & Continuity Offer
Business Continuity Funding Check
A Buy-Sell Agreement names the buyer. Has anyone funded the check?
Buy-sell agreements, key-person exposures, and lender requirements often look complete on paper until a death or disability tests the funding. We review buy-sell formulas, key-person valuations, debt guarantees, and owner continuity agreements against your existing life policies.
We work alongside your CPA, business attorney, or banker to ensure the cash flow, ownership, tax structures, and policy provisions match the legal obligations without over-insuring or creating tax surprises.
What this review covers
- Buy-sell funding and valuation alignment
- Key-person loss exposure and lender-required coverage
- Policy ownership, beneficiary structures, and tax mechanics
- Whether to Keep, Adjust, Add, or Replace existing business policies
Underwriting Offer
Carrier-Fit Underwriting Triage
Before a formal life-insurance application, identify the underwriting facts that could change the carrier path.
A prior rating, decline, diabetes, cardiac history, sleep apnea, high BMI, hazardous travel, or aviation history does not automatically mean coverage is out of reach. Different carriers treat medical conditions and lifestyle factors with widely varying guidelines.
In Carrier-Fit Triage, we isolate the underwriting facts that matter before you formally apply. This avoids unproductive applications, unexpected ratings, or unnecessary declines on your record.
What this review covers
- Medical records, lab values, and underwriting factors likely to control the decision
- Carrier specialty guidelines and impaired-risk pathways
- Whether informal inquiries should be submitted prior to formal application
- Actionable preparation steps before completing carrier paperwork
Specialist Review
IUL Illustration Stress Test
Before you accept an IUL illustration, stress-test the funding, assumptions, charges, and loan strategy before a projected number becomes a long-term commitment.
Indexed universal life illustrations can look precise while depending on crediting assumptions that are not guaranteed. Under current NAIC illustration standards (AG 49-A), consumers deserve transparency regarding historical cap changes, cost of insurance escalation, and loan arbitrage assumptions.
We examine how the policy responds if index returns are lower, policy charges rise, premiums arrive later than planned, or loans are drawn. The goal is to understand whether the policy remains sustainable when reality differs from the sales illustration.
What this review covers
- Guaranteed values versus non-guaranteed illustration assumptions
- Premium schedule, policy charges, cap histories, and participation rates
- Lower-crediting and higher-cost stress test scenarios
- Loan and withdrawal mechanics, including lapse sensitivity analysis
Deadline Review
Term Deadline & Conversion Check
Your term expiration date may not be the most important deadline in your policy; conversion rights can be controlled by separate provisions.
Term policies carry contractual dates that can quietly close your options: a conversion window that expires before the policy ends, a steep renewal premium jump, coverage tied to an employer, or a guarantee period ending years before the need does.
We read the actual policy contract, map the dates that matter, and weigh them against what has changed since issue: health, income, dependents, debts, or business obligations. The urgency here is real because contractual options expire.
What this review covers
- Conversion rights, conversion product availability, and expiry dates
- Renewal pricing schedules and post-guarantee premium escalation
- Life changes since policy issue: health, income, family, debt, business
- Keep, Convert, Adjust, Add, or Replace recommendations with exact timeline
A Separate Lane
Final Expense Benefit Check
Will the policy pay the full benefit immediately or include a waiting period? Right coverage, right cost, right fit.
Final-expense plans are often presented as simple, but important details can hide behind a modest monthly payment. We look at when the full benefit begins, how long premiums last, and how much the policy costs over a realistic lifetime.
We check whether level, graded, modified, or guaranteed-issue structures deserve consideration for your situation and whether guaranteed issue is actually necessary. If a proposed plan is a sound fit, we say so plainly. No immediate full-benefit policy is promised to every caller.
What this review covers
- Immediate full-coverage versus graded or modified benefit waiting periods
- Benefit amount, premium duration, and total expected lifetime cost
- Health qualification and whether a lower-cost level policy is available
- Carrier stability and alternative resource options
